Sound Art workshops

_____________________________________________

- Instrument making and exploring the science of sound.
- Sound recording and making podcast's

A science, art, design technology and music project developed with Arts Catalyst. The workshop covered: Sound physics, electronics, using sound editing software [ Audacity ] over a period of 7days.

Electro-acoustics
Through listening and using contact microphones to amplify sound, the sonic properties of materials were explored through experimentation. Instruments were made which harnessed these properties. Groups were given a basic theme and core materials around which to design and make the instrument. The recordings were edited using free audio editing software called Audacity.

Pod cast workshops
As part of an Art & Science day across the school organised in collaboration with Arts Catalyst;
We worked on a podcast - the idea was that a group of students were sent into space to send back radio transmissions across space - telling the rest of the school about the day to day life onboard the space craft and encounters with strange aliens. here is one example...

The final podcast's were completed and played across the school using the tanoy system.

Water works - Globus adventure
Waterworks was a Creative Partnerships London East and South project with St Michael & All Angels Church of England Academy. Special thanks to Tim Smith. This is an epic pod cast by one group ..
